But now it more broadly commemorates all the diggers who served or died in military operations. I always make Anzacs on Anzac Day but sometimes my Aussie husband misses home so I make him these&#8230;.they are heaps easier to make than Lamingtons!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1551\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1551\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/?attachment_id=1551\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1551\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1551\" title=\"Anzacs\" src=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Anzacs-300x232.jpg\" alt=\"Anzacs\" width=\"300\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Anzacs-300x232.jpg 300w, http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Anzacs.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1551\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chewy Anzacs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>1 cup Flour<br \/>\n1 cup Rolled Oats<br \/>\n1 cup Coconut<br \/>\n3\/4 cup Brown Sugar<br \/>\n125 grams Butter (about 1\/2 cup; I actually measure butter(s) a kitchen scale)<br \/>\n2 Tablespoon Golden Syrup (Rogers Golden Syrup in Canada)<br \/>\n1 teaspoon Baking Soda<br \/>\n2 Tablespoons Water<\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 325F.<br \/>\nLine baking sheets with parchment paper.<br \/>\nIn medium mixing bowl combine flour, rolled oats, coconut and brown sugar.<br \/>\nIn a medium saucepan melt butter over medium heat; add golden syrup and water, stirring until syrup dissolves.<br \/>\nStir in baking soda.<br \/>\nPour butter mixture into the flour mixture and stir until combined.<br \/>\nUsing a 1.5ounce scoop, scoop out batter and drop 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets, flatten biscuits slightly.<br \/>\nBake in 325F. oven for 10 &#8211; 12 minutes, until golden brown.<br \/>\nRemove from oven and let biscuits cool on baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.taste.com.au\/recipes\/15770\/chewy+anzac+biscuits\" target=\"_blank\">Anzac bickies<\/a>&#8230;&#8221;I like the chewy ones, not the crunchy ones. You have to have real golden syrup.&#8221; says my husband.<br \/>\n&#8220;They&#8217;re called &#8220;bickies&#8221; not cookies!&#8221; he exclaims.<br \/>\nOne of the things I love about Anzacs is that there aren&#8217;t any eggs in them!!! I can eat all the cookie do&#8230;.biscuit dough I want!
