{"id":1845,"date":"2013-11-05T12:27:57","date_gmt":"2013-11-05T20:27:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/?p=1845"},"modified":"2013-11-05T12:27:57","modified_gmt":"2013-11-05T20:27:57","slug":"slow-cooker-chicken-adobo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/?p=1845","title":{"rendered":"Slow Cooker Chicken Adobo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The boys in this house enjoy Chicken Adobo but I don&#8217;t like frying chicken; I was pleased to find this recipe for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chow.com\/recipes\/30473-slow-cooker-chicken-adobo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Slow Cooker Adobo Chicken,<\/a> which did not ask for me to first brown it in oil.<\/p>\n<p>I reckon it is pretty adaptable to what you have on hand too: I was in desperate need of grocery shopping and only had one onion and part of a red onion on hand to work with, luckily I had just purchased Rice Vinegar so had that on hand &#8211; in the past I have subbed in regular white vinegar. That said, I do hope that it tasted alright? Both the guys said it was good. I asked for more specific details but they couldn&#8217;t come up with any! (I don&#8217;t eat meat so I have no idea how it tasted. I thought it looked better than the stove top version I make and I also liked the consistency of the sauce. I removed the chicken to a serving dish, poured the liquid into a small saucepan and reduced it to a thicker consistency to satisfy my own sensibilities.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1846\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1846\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/?attachment_id=1846\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1846\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1846\" alt=\"Slow Cooker Chicken Adobo\" src=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slow-Cooker-Chicken-Adobo.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slow-Cooker-Chicken-Adobo.jpg 640w, http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slow-Cooker-Chicken-Adobo-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slow-Cooker-Chicken-Adobo-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Slow-Cooker-Chicken-Adobo-624x624.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1846\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Slow Cooker Chicken Adobo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>4 Onions, halved and thinly sliced<br \/>\n4 cloves Garlic, minced<br \/>\n1 Tablespoon Grated Ginger<br \/>\n1 Bay Leaf<br \/>\n3 lbs Bone In, Chicken Thighs<br \/>\n3\/4 cup Soy Sauce<br \/>\n1\/4 cup Rice Vinegar<br \/>\n1 Tablespoon Sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper<br \/>\nSteamed Rice<\/p>\n<p>Place onions, garlic, \u00a0ginger\u00a0and\u00a0bay leaf in an even layer in the slow cooker.<br \/>\nIf Chicken Thighs have skins, remove skin and visible fat; arrange chicken in an even layer on top of the onions et al.<br \/>\nWhisk together the soy sauce, vinegar, sugar and pepper; pour it over the chicken.<br \/>\nCover and cook until the chicken is cooked through and falling off the bone, about 4 &#8211; 5 hours on LOW.<br \/>\nTransfer Chicken to serving dish and cover with foil.<br \/>\nPour liquid into a small saucepan, fish out bay leaf and discard; bring to a boil.<br \/>\nContinue boiling to reduce to desired consistency.<br \/>\nPour over Chicken, sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve alongside hot Steamed Rice.<\/p>\n<p>Serves 4 &#8211; 6<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The boys in this house enjoy Chicken Adobo but I don&#8217;t like frying chicken; I was pleased to find this recipe for Slow Cooker Adobo Chicken, which did not ask for me to first brown it in oil.
