I have long since learned that I can&#8217;t eat the stuff in the restaurants due to a long list food insensitivities. Good thing I can cook up my own version of the stuff in my own clean kitchen! I used to own an electric wok but that has long since vacated my appliance storage cupboard; I now just use a large, deep skillet on the stove top.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2118\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2118\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/?attachment_id=2118\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2118\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2118\" alt=\"Clean Chop Suey\" src=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC03225-300x258.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC03225-300x258.jpg 300w, http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC03225-1024x883.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2118\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Clean Chop Suey<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>1 Tablespoon Olive Oil<br \/>\n1 Onion, sliced<br \/>\n2 cloves Garlic, mashed<br \/>\n1 teaspoon Ginger Root, grated<br \/>\n2 stalks Celery, thinly sliced on the diagonal<br \/>\n3 Garden Fresh Carrots, scrubbed, thinly sliced on the diagonal<br \/>\n2 stalks Broccoli, cut into reasonable sized chunks<br \/>\n1\/2 head of Cauliflower, cut into reasonable sized chunks<br \/>\n1 teaspoon Sesame Oil<br \/>\n1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce<br \/>\n1 McCormick&#8217;s Vegetable Stock Cube<br \/>\n1 can (796ml) Bean Sprouts, drained &#8211; \u00a0can use Fresh Sprouts<br \/>\n1 can (227ml) Sliced Water Chestnuts, drained<br \/>\n1 Tablespoon Water<br \/>\n1 1\/2 teaspoon Corn Starch<\/p>\n<p>Cashews or Peanuts, to garnish<\/p>\n<p>In large, deep sided skillet, heat oil over med -high heat.<br \/>\nAdd onion and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring frequently.<br \/>\nAdd garlic, cook and stir frequently for another minute.<br \/>\nIncrease heat to High, add ginger root, celery and carrots; stir frequently.<br \/>\nAdd broccoli and cauliflower; stir and cook for a minute.<br \/>\nDrizzle sesame oil and soy sauce over all, stir well and continue cooking.<br \/>\nAdd vegetable stock cube, bean sprouts and water chestnuts &#8211; mash stock cube onto bottom of pan; cook and stir constantly for a few minutes.<br \/>\nQuickly combine the Tablespoon of cold water and the cornstarch in a small bowl; add to skillet and stir continually until liquid thickens and goes clear.<\/p>\n<p>Sprinkle with blanched, unsalted cashews or peanuts.<\/p>\n<p>Serves 6<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2117\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2117\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/?attachment_id=2117\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2117\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2117\" alt=\"Key to cooking Chop Suey is to have all the ingredients prepared and ready to hit the pan!\" src=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC03217-300x224.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC03217-300x224.jpg 300w, http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC03217-1024x767.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2117\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Key to cooking Chop Suey is to have all the ingredients prepared and ready to hit the pan!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oh, sometimes I just crave Chinese Food.
