{"id":2191,"date":"2014-07-21T19:12:01","date_gmt":"2014-07-22T02:12:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/?p=2191"},"modified":"2014-07-21T19:13:37","modified_gmt":"2014-07-22T02:13:37","slug":"chicken-a-la-king","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/?p=2191","title":{"rendered":"Chicken a la King"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been making Chicken (Turkey) a la King for as long as I can remember! \u00a0I usually serve it with pasta though I have heard you can also serve it over toast or on a bed of rice.<\/p>\n<p>Over at Betty Crocker they show a lovely pic of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bettycrocker.com\/recipes\/chicken-a-la-king\/2fd637ba-2c30-4db5-95d0-e57b4547251e\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chicken a la King<\/a> served on a wedge of toasted French Bread, and I have to say, it looks pretty amazing! I may have to try that next time!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2192\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2192\" style=\"width: 474px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/?attachment_id=2192\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2192\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2192\" src=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC03804-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"chicken a la king\" width=\"474\" height=\"355\" srcset=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC03804-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC03804-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2192\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chicken a la King<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>1\/2 cup Butter<br \/>\n1 small Onion, diced<br \/>\n1\/2 cup Flour<br \/>\n1 small Green Pepper, chopped<br \/>\n3 oz Fresh Mushrooms, sliced &#8211; Optional<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon Salt<br \/>\n1\/4 teaspoon Pepper<br \/>\n1 1\/2 cups Milk<br \/>\n1 1\/2 cups Chicken Stock<br \/>\n2 cups diced, Cooked Chicken or Turkey<\/p>\n<p>3 cups \u00a0cooked hot Pasta or \u00a0cooked hot \u00a0Rice or Toasted French Bread Slices<\/p>\n<p>Melt butter in 3-quart saucepan over medium-high heat.<br \/>\nAdd diced onion and saut\u00e9 for about 4 minutes, until onion is translucent.<br \/>\nAdd flour, salt and pepper &#8211; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until bubbly.<br \/>\nStir in half the milk \u00a0and bring it back to a boil, stirring constantly; add remaining milk, stir constantly.<br \/>\nAdd chicken stock, half at a time, returning mixture to a boil before \u00a0the next addition of liquid, stirring constantly.<br \/>\nBoil and stir for 1 minute.<br \/>\nStir in chopped green pepper, mushrooms &#8211; if using, chopped chicken or turkey &#8211; reduce heat and cook until heated through, stirring as needed.<\/p>\n<p>Serves 4<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been making Chicken (Turkey) a la King for as long as I can remember! \u00a0I usually serve it with pasta though I have heard you can also serve it over toast or on a bed of rice.
