The original recipe called for a whole chicken&#8230;the kind that goes &#8220;Cluck, Cluck&#8221;. I adapted the recipe to suit my Vegetarian ways using either Chick Peas or Yves Chicken Tenders. Most often I make it with the Yves product because I am the only one that loves Chick Peas around here and truth be told? I think my husband would prefer the chicken that goes &#8220;Cluck, Cluck&#8221;!<\/p>\n<div>\n<dl id=\"attachment_641\">\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/?attachment_id=641\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-641\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Chana Masala\" alt=\"Chana Masala\" src=\"http:\/\/aysontespli.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_2202-1024x782.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"488\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>Intensely Bright Spicy Chana Masala\u00a0<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p>2 -4 \u00a0large Onions, sliced<br \/>\n4 &#8211; 5 cloves of Garlic, crushed<br \/>\n1 1\/2 teaspoons shredded fresh Ginger root<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon Tumeric<\/p>\n<p>1 (800g) can Diced Tomatoes<br \/>\n1 (800g) can Crushed Tomatoes<br \/>\n1 &#8211; 1 1\/2 (800g) can(s) Water<br \/>\n1 (420g) can Chick Peas, drained and rinsed well<\/p>\n<p>6 Cardamom pods<br \/>\n6 whole Cloves<br \/>\n2 Bay Leaves<\/p>\n<p>2 &#8211; 3 Tablespoons curry<br \/>\n1 teaspoon Chili Flakes<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon Cayenne<br \/>\n1 teaspoon ground Cumin<br \/>\n1 teaspoon ground Coriander<br \/>\n1 1\/2 teaspoons Salt<br \/>\npinch of Brown Sugar<br \/>\n1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice<\/p>\n<p><strong>Garnish with:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Chopped Cilantro, Chopped Green Onions<\/p>\n<p>Optional: Yves Chicken Tenders, chopped<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Place onions, garlic, gingeroot, tumeric, diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes in Slow Cooker and stir to combine.<\/p>\n<p>In a Tea Strainer,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/sonteisservingitup\/events\/slowcookerchanamasala\/images.jpeg?attredirects=0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/sonteisservingitup\/_\/rsrc\/1276558529849\/events\/slowcookerchanamasala\/images.jpeg?height=177&amp;width=200\" width=\"200\" height=\"177\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a>Place Cardamom pods which you have slightly crushed with the back of your knife, Whole Cloves, and Bay Leaves. Securely close Tea Strainer and drop into tomato mixture.<\/p>\n<p>Add Curry to taste, ground Cumin, ground Coriander, \u00a0Chili Flakes, Cayenne, Salt, Brown Sugar and Lemon Juice. Stir to combine all.<\/p>\n<p>Turn Slow Cooker on High and cook for 3 &#8211; 4 hours. If heading out for the day, you can turn the Slow Cooker to the Slow Setting and leave it go for 6 &#8211; 8 hours.<\/p>\n<p>If using the High setting, add drained, well rinsed Chick Peas 1 1\/2 hours before you plan to serve. You may also want to add a bit more curry, chili or salt at this stage.<\/p>\n<p>If using, add Chopped Yves Veggie Tenders and continue cooking for 1 1\/2 hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; This is a version of a recipe I found somewhere, quite a few years ago.
